Original Sin and Atonement Taught in Islam?

In order to save themselves the embarrassment of defending such ‘difficult to digest’ doctrines, some Christians have begun in recent times to try and show that Islam also teaches these doctrines. Below are some links, which refute such laughable allegations: (see appendix section)

One would notice how these Christians either misinterpret our scripture or pass off red herrings. For instance, the specific objection Muslims put forward towards Christians is that Islam opposes that one would be accountable for the sins of others in the sense that the moral guilt is transferred from the guilty to the innocent because it’s simply unjust.

What some of these polemicists slyly try to do is show examples where Allah might destroy a whole village filled with evil people and then argue “You see? Allah sent an earthly punishment in which innocents have suffered due to the evil actions of others”.

How on earth is this analogous to the atonement is simply beyond me. Allah sends tribulations to innocents in this life for different reasons as laid out in scripture. No where is it mentioned that the moral guilt has been transferred to those innocents. This is more related to the infamous ‘problem of evil’. It has NO RELATION to the atonement!

Whether these are intentional deceptive tactics being employed or merely a demonstration of just how incompetent these polemicists are, our Muslim readers could sympathize with the frustration Muslim apologists need to endure when addressing these critics.

  1. The one who wants to buy fish will go the fish market … and the one wants to learn Islam will learn it from Muslims … Those liars aren’t the stop station of rational honest researchers for truth. Why even bother them!

  2. Since Christians have also reinterpreted/reinvented Jewish scripture to account for original sin atonement doctrines—neither of which the Jews believe in either—-it is little wonder that they would also reinterpret/reinvent the Muslim Scriptures to align with their views!!!

  3. In the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and you shall not do any work … For on that day he shall provide atonement for you to cleanse you from all your sins before the L-RD. -Leviticus 16:29-30
and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.” (Isaiah 53: 6,12 NIV)
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45 NIV)
