Secular Democracy, is viewed as the political ideology to solve every issue and advocated after colonialism in every nation by Western government. But has most democracies been success stories of transparent, tolerant and peaceful countries? Is there a non-Secular alternative solution that might yield better results? Does Islam offer a more peaceful and tolerant solution to the issues we face today?
UCD Islamic Society and UCD Philosophy Society have collaborated to bring you a panel discussion: Islam or Secular Democracy?
We will be joined by Abdullah Andalusi, international Muslim speaker, lecturer and PhD candidate in Political Science at the University College Dublin, School of Politics and International Relations (SPIRe) based in the UCD Geary Institute for Public Policy, and moderator, UCD’s Dr Sulgana Maitra, lecturer in Humanitarian Action.
