Yesterday was the 17th anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre, the worst massacre to have taken place in Europe since World War 2. Over 8000 Muslim men and boys were murdered by Serbian troops in one of the worst displays of human barbarity. Sadly, events like these should only leave civilized people on guard, to make sure that such events like this never happen again, and to make sure that levels of hatred and bigotry are kept in checked and refuted to prevent such an event from taking place.
And when we speak of hateful bigots, we speak of persons such as Pamela Geller, who writes that the Srebrenica massacre is an actual hoax, an Islamic PR stunt, and an inside job. Just as it is unacceptable for persons to deny the holocaust, it should also be unacceptable for bigots to deny this genocide, and they should be tarred with the same brush as those who do deny the holocaust.
At the end of the day, people like Geller are the very actual substance they are warning against. Geller has openly displayed support for tyrannical dictatorships, openly called for the support of tyrannical dictatorships against the people, and all of this is coupled with her claims of the Srebrenica massacre being a hoax run by Islamic propaganda.
All of us should do our best to counteract such vile bigotry, as it is only in the face of silence, that bigotry and hate will be allowed to flourish. The same type of bigotry and hate that lead to disgraceful acts, such as the Holocaust, and the Srebrenica massacre.
