“I am convinced that Gitmo and other places like Gitmo only exist because its detainees are Muslims. I cannot imagine a Christian Gitmo I cannot imagine a Jewish Guantanamo. It exists because of Islamphobia.” – Michael Ratner (Attorney and the President of the Center for Constitutional Rights).

I respectfully disagree. Islamist radicals are the reason for Gitmo. If there were no Islamist radicals threatening to destroy America, there would not be a Gitmo. However, I cannot deny that the authorities do get carried away when it comes to Muslims.
but the point is this surely that:
“I cannot imagine a Christian Gitmo I cannot imagine a Jewish Guantanamo.”
so why is Gitmo full of Muslims then? Why no Jews or Christians?
Let’s put it this way Paul. If 911 hadn’t happened, there would be no need for Gitmo.
While I agree that Islamophobia (irrational fear of Muslims/Islam) may be one reason it still exists—I think the moral bankruptcy of America and many American citizens is the root cause.
look at the “justification” given above—-if 9/11 hadn’t happened…..!!!! When the holocaust happened—the nazis were given a fair trail !!!! (Ofcourse—When Hiroshima and Nagasaki happened, America went off scott free…..) But how does the U.S. treat others—torture, indefinite detentions, renditions, abuses,……all of them justified by using 9/11 as an excuse.
obviously Americans are incapable of figuring out right from wrong…………..

Have you watched fahrenheit 911? Michael Moore’s view on what happened to the United States after September 11; and how the Bush Administration allegedly used the tragic event to push forward its agenda for unjust wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
By watching the film, it seems like inside job to persecute muslims.
