The video has been released of the amazing lecture by Zara Faris at SOAS (The School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, held on 27th February 2014) discussing the controversial topic, ‘Women in Islam & Feminism’ answering the question whether they are compatible or conflicting? There were a number of vocal Feminist attendees who engaged strongly in the question and answer session, creating a good back and forth and allowing Zara to succinctly respond dealing robustly with the confusions around Islam and Feminism, whether anyone can actually define Feminism, whether it is useful in light of this – and crucially, whether Muslims need to resort to Feminism or not.
