MDI speaker Shadid Lewis debates Christian apologist C.L. Edwards on the topic of what the Messiah is. Muslim and Christians believes Jesus (Isa [a.s.]) to be the Messiah, but Christians believe Jesus is also God. So the question is, where do Christians get that idea from, is it from the Bible, or their own doctrines invented after Jesus? So the Question is, what does the Bible say about the nature of the Messiah? God or, like the other Prophets, only a mortal man.

If Jesus is “God”, as many Christians argue, then this god is logically also the “Son of Himself”, since these same Christians argue that Jesus is the “Son of God (Jesus)”. In effect, Jesus must therefore also be the son of Jesus. So how does that circular self-birthing work exactly?
But even more troubling than a god self-birthing is such a “god’s” death. Given the requirement of divine sacrifice and the omniscience of “God” in Christianity, we are left with a most logically repugnant but irrefutable conclusion. In order to find enough mercy to forgive mankind of its sins, such a “God” first had to commit suicide. Now how shocking is that?
How coincidental that such a pagan, blood-sacrificed, suicidal man-god doctrine predates Christianity. In fact, such a doctrine under several names dominated Rome as the official state religion before Constantine formally assimilated Christianity into this pagan man-god doctrine after the Council of Nicaea in 325 A.D. It was the most politically expedient power move Constantine ever made. It united and allowed the Roman Empire to expand dramatically in the fourth century under a single pagan-infused ideology. Subsequent Emperors during this time all embraced “Christianity” as the new official state religion. And that is how Modern Christianity was NOT born humbly in Nazareth at all, but rather under the great power and manipulation of Rome.

the strange thing is that this god said, “…Yet it was the LORD’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer…”
this god is acting out his own suffering servant passages in isaiah( if we accept the christian interpretation)
if it was gods will to crush himself then god used his own divine punishment on himself
while the romans were nailing the flesh, god was nailing the flesh and pouring his wrath on himself
