Salvation and the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)

Share

Some Christian missionaries often argue that Islam turns the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) into a deity alongside Allah. According to them, the fact that salvation is linked to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), makes or turns the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) into some sort of deity.

It must be said, the reason why missionaries try so hard to try and convince Muslims that Islam makes the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) into a god, is because they themselves worship and deify a man, namely the Prophet Jesus (pbuh). So it’s their goal to try and show that the same thing exists in Islam, so as to justify their worship and deification of Jesus (pbuh).

Now the Christian missionary argument mainly stems from the Islamic shahada, the testimony of faith that says:

There is no God but God and Muhammad is his messenger

So the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is mentioned and linked to the Islamic testimony of faith, and this testimony of faith must be uttered and believed by all Muslims in order to attain salvation. As such missionaries argue that this turns the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) into a god as salvation is linked to him.

The missionaries have obviously confused the issue, and this stems from their own ideological mistakes, Christian missionaries due to worshipping a man, see man worship in everything. Even something so simple and innocent as a text that says we should love the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), is turned into meaning we as Muslims worship the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

Now just to illustrate how silly the Christian missionary argument is, according to Islam salvation is also linked to many other things, such as believing in messengers and prophets, this would also include the Prophet Jesus (pbuh). No Muslim can be a Muslim if he or she doesn’t believe in Jesus (pbuh), so does this mean Muslims have also turned Jesus into a god now? Even though the Quran explicitly says he is not God, and should not be treated as God?

Islam also teaches Muslims to believe in angels, and no Muslim can be a Muslim if he or she doesn’t believe in the angels, so does this mean Muslims have turned all angels into gods because our salvation is linked to believing in them?

Islam also teaches Muslims to believe in judgment day, no Muslim can be a Muslim if he or she doesn’t believe in judgment day; salvation again is linked to believing in this day. By the Christian missionary logic, this means Islam has turned judgment day into a god!

Obviously we see how absurd and silly the argument is. Now to the issue of the Islamic testimony of faith and salvation being linked to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), it makes perfect sense that salvation should be linked and included to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is first and foremost God’s messenger and prophet, he was entrusted and given the revelation of God. How can one be a believer in God, if they reject his prophet and messenger? Rejecting the messenger and prophet is akin to rejecting God himself, because you have rejected the one God has sent.

Believing in the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is not believing he is god or should be worshipped, but rather it means we believe he was a prophet, a messenger, and a person who was entrusted with God’s message. And this is how salvation is linked to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), for how can one reject the prophet God sent, it makes no sense.

Obviously to Muslims this is very simple, and very logical, but Christian missionaries have turned the whole thing upside down and drawn out something completely different, that salvation linked to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is turning him into a god, when rather, salvation linked to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is to affirm that God sent him.
