Is Yahweh's love unconditional?

Share

Christians often attack Islam because according to Islamic theology, Allah does not unconditionally love everybody, rather his love is based on a conditional obedience to him, and for some Christians this is problematic.

Well if a Christian finds this to be problematic, then they’ve not properly researched about the God they believe in, Yahweh. According to the Bible, Yahweh’s love, is also conditional:

If you pay attention to these laws and are careful to follow them, then the LORD your God will keep his covenant of love with you, as he swore to your forefathers.  He will love you and bless you and increase your numbers. He will bless the fruit of your womb, the crops of your land?your grain, new wine and oil?the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks in the land that he swore to your forefathers to give you. (Deuteronomy 7:12-13)

Yahweh's love is conditional upon following the laws he has given to his followers, so if the people follow the laws, then Yahweh will love the people, so Yahweh’s love is not unconditional.

Notice God is also promising them that if they keep his commands then he will keep his love, in other words if they don’t keep the commands then obviously the covenant of love will be void, and God will not love them.

Hence Yahweh's love is conditional upon obeying him, and Yahweh does not simply unconditionally love everybody, so if Christians had a problem with Allah, then they should be consistent now and have a problem with Yahweh, but who thinks that’s going to happen?
